Hip Resurfacing Surgery
Specialty Surgeon Complete Packaged Procedure.
Hip resurfacing treatment is an intervention alternative to total hip replacement. In hip resurfacing the hip femoral head is reshaped to accept a metal cap. The damaged hip socket is fitted with a metal prosthesis — similar to what is used in a conventional hip replacement. Resurfacing is indicated to relieve arthritis pain or fix physical joint damage.
It might be a better choice for younger people because the procedure leaves more bone intact, which can make it easier to perform a total hip replacement if needed later.
Hip resurfacing surgery cost includes the facility fee, physician’s fee, cost of drugs, and any related medical procedures required to administer the plan of care. Not included are diagnostic studies, consultations with additional specialists, and cost of complication management; travel, food, and lodging.
