Description
Gastric Bypass Recalibration Adjustment
Specialty surgeon complete packaged procedure
Gastric bypass recalibration/adjustments (also called ‘fills’) may be performed using an X-ray fluoroscope so that the radiologist may assess the placement of the band, the port, and the tubing that runs between the port and the band.
Correct and sensitive adjustment of the band is imperative for weight loss and the long term success of the procedure. The purpose is to make periodic changes to adjust the size of the pouch for food entry.
The number of adjustments may be estimated to be between three and five fills (where saline/isotonic solution is inserted into the band via the subcutaneous port) for a person to reach the optimal restriction for weight loss.
Treatment cost includes the facility fee, physician’s fee, related medical procedures, and drugs required to administer the plan of care.
Not included are diagnostic studies, consultations with additional specialists, and cost of complication management; travel, food, and lodging.
