Physical Therapist Specialized Treatment – 1 hour that includes examination and assessment with related review and treatment recommendations.
Therapy for individuals with cystic fibrosis is directed to limiting and treating the lung damage caused by thick mucus and infection, with the goal of maintaining the quality of life.
Chest therapy consists of bronchial, or postural, drainage, which is done by placing the patient in a position that allows the drainage of the mucus from the lungs.
Exercise treatment also helps to loosen the mucus, stimulate coughing to clear the mucus, and improve the patient’s overall physical condition.
In collaboration with the physician, the therapist develops an individualized plan of care. The cystic fibrosis treatment cost includes a one-hour consultation with a specialist.
Not included are diagnostic studies, consultations with additional specialists, and cost of complication management; travel, food, and lodging.
