It can occur in one specific area, or across the entire ball of the foot. It is associated with increased stress over the heads of your metatarsal bones (the ball of your foot). Treatment can consist of non-weight bearing to the area with the use of crutches or a walker, weight-bearing in a removable cast boot (CAM walker), or walking in a stiff-soled shoe, such as a sneaker or surgical shoe and anti-inflammatory medication.
