Hammertoes is a contracture (bending) of one or both joints of the second, third, fourth, or fifth (little) toes. Treated conservatively by changing shoe style, orthotic devices, padding, or surgery. In surgery, the surgeon will cut or realign tendons but also remove some pieces of bone to straighten your toe. This procedure may require that the bones be fixed temporarily with pins while your toe heals.
Hammertoes treatment cost includes the facility fee, physician’s fee, related medical procedures, and drugs required to administer the plan of care. Not included are diagnostic studies, consultations with additional specialists, and cost of complication management; travel, food, and lodging.
