I am a biochemist, and have specialized in the relation of diet to health for over 50 years. Several years ago, I learned of the discovery of Richard R. Vensal, D.D.S. that asparagus might cure cancer. Since then, I have worked with him on his project.
The story behind the discovery of artificial sweeteners is actually rather interesting since it was completely by accident. In 1879 a researcher, Ira Ramsen, accidentally spilled a derivative of coal tar on his hand and noticed it was sweet. That incident set the stage for further investigating, thus creating Saccharin, commonly known as Sweet-n-Low.
Autism or autism spectrum disorder (ASD) has received much awareness lately. Per every hundred children born in the US there is one born with Autism. Although scientist don’t know for sure what causes it, there is the genetic component and now there has been new research introduced suggesting that air pollution contributes to the risk for pregnant woman giving birth to an autistic child. Women who live in areas with high levels of air pollution, including diesel exhaust, mercury and lead are twice as likely to have a baby with autism.
In the recent years, the terms “Alternative Treatments” and “Complementary Treatments” have gained much popularity. Nearly 40 percent of the american population report using alternative and/or complementary treatment methods. In most cases, though, people are confused as to what they really mean and how it is connected to conventional treatments. These terms are often used interchangeably and are very similar but they are different.
