Description
Colon Resection Laparoscopic Surgery
Specialty surgeon complete packaged procedure.
Laparoscopic colon surgery is non-invasive surgery of the diseased colon.
Several small incisions are made in the abdomen, one for the laparoscope which is attached to a camera that sends images to a video monitor.
The other incisions are used to insert instruments to hold or manipulate tissue in the abdomen.
The diseased portion of the colon is identified and carefully dissected and removed.
In some instances, one of the incisions may be lengthened. The hospital stay and at-home recovery are significantly less than an open approach to colon surgery.
Treatment cost includes the facility fee, physician’s fee, related medical procedures, and drugs required to administer the plan of care.
Not included are diagnostic studies, consultations with additional specialists, and cost of complication management; travel, food, and lodging.
