So many of us have a soda habit

Drinking one for breakfast, another for lunch, and perhaps a few for dinner and snack but have you ever wondered about how this sugary drink can affect your health? New findings reveal that sugar-sweetened beverages (SSBs), including teas and flavored drinks, is bad for your waistline and your blood pressure.

Could Soda Affect Your Blood Pressure

According to “Ask the Expert: Is Soda Bad for Blood Pressure?” by Rachel Johnson, Ph.D., M.P.H., R.D., “a new study of nearly 3,000 people published in the journal Hypertension reported that those who drank more than one serving a day of SSBs had significantly higher blood pressure than participants who drank one serving (about 12 ounces) or less daily.”

Johnson continues by stating that “high blood pressure is a major risk factor for heart disease and stroke, so as far as I’m [she’s] concerned this is one more nail in the coffin against SSBs. After all, we already know that SSBs are the top source of calories in Americans’ diets and are void of any essential nutrients.”

Perhaps reaching for a glass of water instead of a soda is a wiser health choice for you and your blood pressure.
