A dermatology exam is a full-body skin exam for the detection of skin problems, primarily the detection of skin cancers. Although self-skin exams are essential, studies indicate that physician exam were better at detecting skin cancers than patient’s self-exams.
The benefit of a doctor’s exam was particularly evident with early-stage melanomas that have not invaded below the surface of the skin.
Treatment cost includes the facility fee, physician’s fee, related medical procedures, and drugs required to administer the plan of care.
Not included are diagnostic studies, consultations with additional specialists, and cost of complication management; travel, food, and lodging.
